Video Policy
Version 1 · Updated October 6, 2026
This policy says how listing videos are made, screened, shown, stored and deleted. It is part of the Terms of Service. The Privacy Policy covers everything else we collect.
What a listing video is
Every listing is one video, at most 60 seconds, recorded in portrait with the phone's own camera, in which a kid shows the toy they are selling. There are no photos, no text descriptions and no uploads from elsewhere: the video is the listing. A kid's face, first name and voice may appear — the video is never public, so "hi, I'm Zoe and this is my kite" is fine. What may never appear is anything that locates the child: a last name, a school, a street, a house number, a uniform, a name tag.
Before recording, the app shows a short checklist of those rules. A parent sees and approves every video before it is screened, and may take any listing down at any time.
Who can see a video
A listing video is visible only inside YaaFlip, and only to:
- Verified families nearby. Households that completed activation (a card on file, an adult's identity check and the activation purchase) whose chosen drop-off spots lie within their browse distance — at most 50 miles, measured between public drop-off spots — of one of the listing's drop-off spots.
- Our screening and our reviewers, as described below.
- A neighborhood panel, if a dispute about the trade is put to one: two or three verified parents who could already see the listing.
Videos are streamed through signed links that expire, and cannot be downloaded. They are never public, never indexed by search engines, never shown on our marketing site, never used in advertising, and never used to train AI models. Hosts of drop-off spots never see them.
How a video is screened
Nothing a kid posts is visible to anyone outside the household until it has passed three steps:
- A parent approves it. The listing waits for a grown-up's yes.
- An automated screening reviews the video and its audio in one pass (Google Gemini, on a paid tier that never trains on the content). It checks that the video and what is said are G-rated, that nothing locates the child (last names, schools, addresses, house numbers, uniforms), that it is really a kid showing a toy, and for signs that the video is synthetic or AI-generated. The title and the username are screened the same way.
- A person looks when the screening isn't sure. A video the screening flags is held for a reviewer at YaaFlip. The family is told the reason, from a fixed list (not a kid's own toy or belonging; shows who or where the kid is; not safe to trade; words that aren't allowed; scary or violent; something else), and the kid can usually fix it and send it again. A video that the automated screening could not fully review is held for a person; it never publishes on a partial look. A video goes live only with a pass from the screening or from a person.
We also spot-check videos after they are live. A reviewer may take down any video at any time.
Reports
Any family that can see a listing can report it with the fish icon: might reveal private information, might not be G-rated, might be AI or fake, or another concern. A reported listing is hidden immediately, before anyone reviews it, and a person reviews every report. If the toy is in the middle of a trade, the trade is frozen — its deadlines pause — until the review settles it: either the listing and the trade continue with the frozen time credited back, or the listing stays down, the buyer is refunded and the seller receives a strike. Reports are anonymous to the seller. Reporting your own listing is not possible; take it down instead.
How long a video exists
- A listing is live for 30 days, then expires. An expired listing may be re-listed without filming again for 30 days; after that the video is deleted.
- When a toy sells, deletion of the video begins as soon as the trade completes.
- When a listing is taken down by its family, by a report that is upheld, or by a reviewer, the video is deleted.
- Thumbnails are deleted with their video.
- Drop-off photos — the picture of the labeled bag at the drop-off spot that a parent helps take as proof of drop-off — are seen only by our staff and by a neighborhood panel in a dispute about that trade, and are deleted 30 days after the trade closes.
Deletion runs on an automatic clock; a deleted video is removed from our video provider and cannot be recovered. Deleting a kid profile or an account deletes every video under it at once.
What you agree to
By posting a video you confirm that it shows your own child and your child's own belongings, that you have the right to post it, and that it keeps these rules. You keep ownership of the video and give YaaFlip the license described in the Terms to store, screen, stream and show it as this policy says, for as long as it exists.
