Getting in

I don't have an invite. How do I join?

YaaFlip is invite-only and grows family to family — there's no public signup. Ask a neighbor whose family uses it; every member family has a few single-use three-word codes to share.

Why does joining cost $5?

One purchase does three jobs. A real credit-card transaction is an FTC-recognized way for a parent to give verifiable consent (the COPPA requirement), it puts a real card behind every account so there are no anonymous ones, and the $5 becomes your kid's first 5 Yaa! Points. It's a one-time activation, never a subscription.

Why do you need my photo ID?

To prove every account belongs to a real, identifiable adult. We check the ID once with an automated pass, keep only the minimum (your name, the ID type, the last 4 digits, and the small face photo — locked away and never shown in the product), and permanently destroy the image itself. We never store the full ID.

Yaa! Points & money

Can Yaa! Points turn back into money?

Never — that's the whole trick. Points buy toys and avatar goodies and nothing else: no cash-out, no bidding, no fees on trades, no way for anyone to lose real money. The stakes stay toy-sized.

How do kids earn Yaa! Points?

By flipping their own toys — a sale pays 1 to 5 points the moment the seller drops the item off and proves it. Parents can also buy more ($1 = 1 point, $5 minimum) into the family wallet and hand them out from parent mode.

Videos & privacy

Who can see my kid's videos?

Only card-verified parent accounts in your area whose pickup spots overlap yours — a handful of verified local families, never the open internet. Videos are served through expiring links, can't be downloaded, are never indexed by search engines, and are deleted once the listing ends.

What does the screening check for?

Every video passes an AI check before anyone can see it: is it G-rated (pictures and words), does it accidentally reveal personal info (a last name, school, street, or house number), is it really a kid showing a toy, and does it look AI-generated or fake. Real people spot-check videos and personally review anything that gets flagged.

What data do you keep about us?

Deliberately little. From your ID: name, issuer, last-4, and the small face photo — the image itself is destroyed. Your card lives at Stripe, not with us. Your location is just the public pickup spots you chose — never a home address or coordinates. Device and network checks at signup are kept only for identity verification and abuse investigation, never advertising.

Handoffs & hiccups

What if the item isn't there?

Tap "It's not here" at the pickup spot within 15 minutes of revealing your code, and we'll make it right — your points come back on the spot. Deadlines protect you automatically too: if a seller never drops off within 3 days, your points return on their own.

What if nobody picks up my item?

You're covered — your points arrived the moment you dropped the item off and proved it. The buyer has 14 days to collect; after that the trade closes and the pickup spot's unclaimed-item policy applies.

How do friend connections work?

Like a family handshake. One family shares a three-word friend code in person — spoken, on paper, or on a screen. The other family enters it, we verify you're genuinely local (device location, network, and a shared pickup spot), and then BOTH sets of parents must say yes. Friendship is what unlocks porch delivery.

How do I report something fishy?

Tap the 🐟 on any video — a listing, a member, anything your kid saw. The listing unpublishes instantly, before review even starts, and a human looks at every report. Reports are anonymous to the seller.
